White Shirt Lust

Two long white shirts that I've been lusting over recently. I'm always wary of picking up white anything because it gets so easily stained, but there's no denying that a white shirt is the epitome of minimalist, tailored style. Hoping I won't end up spilling something down myself and getting it all wrinkled by sitting on the end.

My First Time at LFW

shirt // monki via asos
bomber // topshop via ebay
cardigan // topshop
jeans // asos
adidas stan smith // footasylum
lipstick // velvet teddy by mac

Hello! I bet you're sick of all these LFW posts from everyone by now... well it only ended today so I'm getting in in the nick of time. I attended LFW the weekend just gone for the first time. I went with work so I stumbled around with a press pass gazing like an idiot in the designer showrooms, and snapping street styles on the cobbles. At the end of the day we had a quick chance to get some blog shots for me before we headed back to Manchester.

I didn't dress up to impress, I kept it to my usual style and certainly kept it comfy. My favourite trainers of the minute, favourite shirt of the minute, favourite bomber and my newest addition to my wardrobe, the slouchy cardigan. It's actually a maternity cardigan... here's to not using things for their original purpose.

Smart vs. Casual

roll neck crop // asos
shorts // vintage levi's via we are cow
boxers // calvin klein
adidas stan smith // footasylum
boots // asos

I'm constantly torn these days between smart shoes and trainers. A year ago it was 100% trainers, all day erryday, unless it was a particularly fancy night out. These days I can be tempted by a pointed shoe or a chelsea boot.

Which do you prefer?

NYFW AW15 Favourites

Generally, I'm not a big trend follower. Sometimes a trend will come and I'll get involved by accident because it's all over the high street, or it'll just be too good to ignore (e.g. the Calvin Klein 90s comeback happening right now). So with that having been said, this post isn't about trend spotting for next season (the big magazines will cover all of that "important" stuff), this post is just about my favourite looks from NYFW A/W15. On a side note, I am gutted that we're entering Spring. I don't want to say bye to my jumpers yet :(

kanye west x adidas originals

I am utterly in love with this collection as a whole but these are my personal favourites (and I usually think Kanye West is an idiot). No, I wouldn't step out the house wearing a wig cap and knickers over tights, but I am living for the slouchy vibes and colour choices.

I think my favourite collection from NYFW. Super oversized <3 and I'm obsessed with the whole parka/sweater over a dress look.

the row (two left) | the elder statesman (two right)

I have been dying to get my hands on a wrap around jacket that basically looks like pyjamas but you can wear out of the house. Enter: The Row. And I think everyone has been obsessed with knit combinations as of late and The Elder Statesman are making me sad that I won't be able to wrap myself in knits in a month.

oscar de la renta | marc jacobs | marchesa

My favourite "I am off to a fancy event/the red carpet" looks.

lacoste | t by alexander wang | elizabeth and james

brock collection | tibi | elizabeth and james | rosetta getty

rachel zoe

michael kors

My favourite look from NYFW. Still mad I didn't pick up a fur coat this season but there's always next year.

Vintage Leather

leather jacket // vintage
jumper // river island (old)
jeans // asos (similar here)
loafers // asos
rings // h&m

This stunning leather jacket is a vintage leather from the 80s; my lovely cousin gave it to me when I was 15. I was going through a grungy phase in my teens and wore it with my skinny jeans, converse, side fringe and Dr Marten boots. I haven't worn it for a few years because I associated it too much with the memory of dressing a bit... emo. I spotted it in the depths of my wardrobe the other day and pulled it out to have another look at the cut and fit of it. In my memory it was hugely oversized, but it's actually only bigger around the shoulders, and the cut is actually quite cropped. Basically it's coming back out to stay. It has a new place at the front of my wardrobe.

I picked a cosy winter jumper (which originally belonged to my mama - mom's got style), and my recently purchases ASOS loafers. Tailored vibez + grunge vibez = a good outfit day.

Eyeliner Inspo

I have a long list of girls that inspire me to experiment with make up or try new things. @marycake (above) is top of that list. Her Instagram is just...*many OK sign emojis*. I love the elongated brows, dramatic cheek contour and especially the cat eyeliner. See how she takes it down to the inner corner? I thought I'd give that a go myself. It looks punk inspired but isn't too dramatic for every day.

My free days and nights are spent flicking through Instagram and Tumblr (usually whilst doing other things, mind - major multitasking) and finding sources of inspiration. I don't like getting jealous of other girls. It's more helpful to think "daym they're doing themselves well, I'm going to do myself well". So that's what this post is about really: see inspiration, go out and be inspiration.

I gave it a go and I actually really like it. My only concern is how to stop it from bleeding into the corner of my eye and getting messy... tips?

Hair Tuck & Stripes

denim jacket // topshop
roll neck crop // monki via asos
midi skirt // topshop
adidas stan smith // footasylum (sold out but they have other versions)

My hair's a little too short to test out the hair tuck in real life (walking around I think it would fall right out), but I was having a bad hair day and gave it a try. Couple a hair tuck with only resting my jacket on my shoulders and I feel like a real blogger now. Haha. Seriously though I understand why we do these things, they look so chic. Only resting my jacket over shoulders definitely doesn't work outside *thinks about that cold breeze* ugh.

Soz for the image overload but I think this is the happiest I've ever been with a set of images that I took myself. This outfit is one of those that could easily be taken to night by switching up the denim for a leather jacket, and the sneaks with some black boots. I was feeling the casual version this time around. The roll neck is a new addition to my wardrobe. It was only £8!!!!! and is really good quality, stretchy and super soft.

Kylie Jenner Style File

I'd say I've been obsessed with Kylie Jenner since about April of last year? I'm sure when I hit mid-20s/30s I'll move towards Kim's style, but I'm still a young bird and Kylie's style does everything for me. I don't actually watch any of the Kardashian/Jenner shows, I think Kylie just kept popping up on my Tumblr and I was like, hold the phone, when did she grow up? I can't say I'm a fan of how quickly she's grown up; she looks ten years older than she actually is. Anyhoo, I'm not here to start a debate on that ;). Let's just talk style!

I think my favourite part about her style is her ability to wear a ridiculous amount of black and keep it chic and interesting.

Ripped jeans, bomber jackets, sweats and leather... basically she's working all my favourite casuals. I much prefer her casual style over her red carpet style, but that's just me and I don't really favour dresses and heels.

The first thing I will be investing in this Spring is a good quality duster coat. Kylie throws them over an outfit with ease, here's hoping I look like she does in mine and not like a doctor in the wrong colour coat...

Below are a few of my favourite picks for stealing her style right now!

H&M Biker Trousers (£15 - on sale)

Bun & Bomber

bomber // topshop via ebay
long tee // topman
new balance // footasylum

I don't know if anyone's noticed but I've been posting every day now. I will (hopefully) be posting 6 days a week/every day but Sunday for the foreseeable future. I love getting content out there frequently and it should have a positive effect on my blog ^.^

Anyway, on to the outfit. Super casual, sneaks and a tee. I am obsessed with this bomber and I can't stop wearing it, but I feel like I should go back to my long winter coat soon because the season will be ending next month. I love pairing creams and whites with black, and I think the dusky white tee and cream sneaks go surprisingly well together!

Hair Inspiration: The Low Bun

images c/o tumblr

Until the other day I'd actually never worn my hair in a chic low bun (:O omfg ... okay not a big deal). It never occurred to me really, but now my hair's shorter than it was 6 months ago I've been finding new things to do with it once it's too greasy to be down. I used to be a fan of the side plait but I need another two/three inches before I can do that again. It's a really simple, sophisticated look and it took about 25 seconds to do! Definitely a low bun convert. Topknot forgive me.
